Winterfest Scavenger hunt
hunt for clues, Compete with friends, & check out Downtown Lowell businesses!
Each year, up to 20 teams and individuals compete in the online WinterFest Scavenger Hunt! This fun activity engages the whole family in a quest around Lowell during WinterFest hours. The Hunt includes a variety of mission types, such as finding historical locations, posing for the camera, and viewing public art. Check out a recap of the 2024 WinterFest Scavenger Hunt, and prepare for 2025 with the rules for participation below.

The 2024 WinterFest Scavenger Hunt was a blast! Congratulations to the following participants who showed true wisdom and made it on the leadership board:

Playing Instructions

In order to participate, players need to download the Goosechase App. Continue reading for instructions on how to participate with a team or as an individual.
Joining as a TEAM
1. Download the Goosechase iOS or Android app.
2. Log in. New to Goosechase? Sign up for an account or play as a guest.
3. Search for this Experience by code or name, and enter the passcode. The details for next year’s Scavenger Hunt will be posted in February 2025.
4. Join an existing team or create your own team. Some teams require a passcode!
5. Lastly, set yourself apart with a name and photo. Click “Save.”
Joining as an individual
1. Download the Goosechase iOS or Android app.
2. Log in. New to Goosechase? Sign up for an account or play as a guest.
3. Search for this Experience by code or name, and enter the passcode. The details for next year’s Scavenger Hunt will be posted in February 2025.
4. Create your player profile or join a pre-created profile. Some pre-created profiles require a passcode!
5. Lastly, set yourself apart with a name and photo and click “Save.”
Time to Play!
On the first day of Lowell WinterFest, the WinterFest Scavenger Hunt 2025 will begin!
1. Open the “Lowell WinterFest 2025” Experience on the Goosechase app.
2. Choose a mission (a.k.a. “clue”). There are two categories of missions: “Photo” and “GPS.”
3. For a Photo Mission, find the answer and snap a live picture to upload! If you would like to give us permission to use your photos for future WinterFest advertisements, please email us at case@lowellma.gov.
4. For a GPS Mission, find the answer and mark off your location!
When is the Scavenger Hunt?
The Scavenger Hunt will open for the duration of WinterFest. You can play anytime during that period, but some of the missions have limited hours. Spots are first-come first-serve, so register as soon as the registration opens to claim your spot amongst the 20 total competing teams!
IS there a prize? How do you win?
The prize is bragging rights and a shoutout on this webpage! The winning team will be determined by who has the most points. Submissions will be reviewed after WinterFest to ensure the correctness of the answers and points.
